It's time to ride the wave. It was so much fun creating this look for our Top Model, ANTM Season 23 runner-up, Tatiana. This season, wavy hair will carry you through for sure. The great thing about working with wavy textured extensions is that they're low maintenance and easy to manipulate. We've seen celebrities such as Gabrielle Union, Ciara and Taraji sport some amazing lobs with an extra kick. It's all about the tousle and effortlessness. Hair is going in a direction where it shouldn't look too "done".  For this look we used PURE Wavy 14" and a Natural Wavy Closure.

For Tianna's look her blunt lob was was created using a clipper-cut technique. The clippers give the sharp edge, efficiently and quickly. Precision cutting with shears is a classic approach, but can be less accurate with extensions. Unlike hair growing naturally from the scalp, it's easier to create that zero-degree cut with the clippers, guided with a cutting comb for a clean balanced line.

Next, the hair was co-washed with Indique Essential Sulfate-Free Moisturizing Conditioner, towel dried, followed by Design Essentials® Bamboo & Silk HCO Conditioner, then diffused with the blow dryer on medium heat and low speed.

Taking 1 1/2-2" sections, use a tourmaline flat iron to create loose waves. I love tourmaline irons because they add shine! Creating waves with a flat iron takes some practice. Its all about the rotation in your wrist and not closing the iron too tight where it could create indentations. It's also important that the iron has soft curved edges and floating plates, which makes sliding easier.

I've learned that pik combs aren't just for afros. Use a pik to pull through the waves and create volume at the roots. Finish with a flexible holding spray.
