The last time we spoke I swore off wearing units. Well, that did not last, I had to be able to change my look. There wasn't any oil I could rub on my scalp to assist me in growing 22 inches of Indique’s Natural roots, so I had to put my wigs to use. Trying to compromise I decided to only wear my units 1 week at a time.
Every Saturday I shampoo and deep condition my natural hair. Since my last entry, I am still using Shea Moisture’s 100%Virgin Coconut oil hydration shampoo and conditioner. My hair is not as dry and is softer now. Although I wear units I do not sew them down which allows me to apply oil to my scalp every 2-3 days. I have been melting my Organic virgin coconut oil and using a nozzle application bottle to spread the oil on my scalp. If I don’t oil my scalp regularly it gets extremely itchy.
When I take my units off I am letting my hair and scalp breath. This week I tried something different, single strand twists. I did my regular shampoo and conditioner but then I sprayed Crème of Nature’s Pure Honey Break Up Breakage leave-in conditioner through my hair. I massage my scalp for about 20 minutes and then I parted my hair in sections to detangle it before twisting it.
I used Shea Moisture’s Jojoba oil and Ucuuba butter braid up conditioning gel to help define my twists. I am satisfied with the outcome. My hair is growing. I can’t wait to be able to pull my hair into a puffball. That’s the hair landmark I am looking forward to.
