Meet Indique's Authorized Retailer, Lylanda Edwards! Gabrielle's Salon and Extensions Boutique, located in Austin, Texas, specializes in extensions and non-surgical hair replacement services for men and women.
Name: Lylanda Edwards
Occupation: Salon Owner- Hair Extension Specialist
Years in the Industry: 15
Q: When did you first learn that you had this talent?
When I was 13, a cousin from Chicago who was visiting for the summer insisted that I put finger waves in his hair. Up until that point I had only done braids, twists, and ponytails. I was completely amazed at how great the waves turned out and at that moment, I realized that I had something special in my hands.
Q: What has been the most exciting moment in your career?
Providing hair care services for Bernadette Stanis was certainly a pivotal moment in my career. I grew up watching “Thelma” on Good Times and so the opportunity to service her in our salon was a big deal for me! Not only was she my first celebrity client, but her aura and genuine engagement with our team made me love her even more!
Q: What are your beauty projections for this season?
Extensions, extensions, and more extensions! With all the innovative techniques that are available, extensions will continue to be a top demand in the beauty industry - and therefore a top focus for our salon. Currently, we offer over 14 different techniques including non surgical hair replacement for men and women and I anticipate that we’ll continue to expand our service offerings. Expect to see an influx of clients coming to the consensus that HAIR IS A BIG DEAL! They will be seeking customized and undetectable solutions... I project that Gabrielle’s Salon & Extensions Boutique will be a top choice for meeting them at their needs.
Q: You've been #Indiqued! Tell us about your experience working with our brand?
I absolutely love Indique and that’s why it’s been our product of choice for over 8 years. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be an authorized retailer and am very satisfied with the support that Indique has provided! Indique clearly understands “WIN-WIN”!
Q: What advice do you have for someone aspiring in your field?
I would tell them to: Never be afraid to try something new… Once committed to cosmetology, stick with it. Success in this industry is a process and not an event… It takes time! Prayer and positivity plus hard work and dedication inevitably leads to greatness!
Q: What have been some of the barriers you've faced in this industry?
One of the biggest initial barriers was creating a business model that promoted continuous revenue growth and skills development for our team. Another initial challenge was recruiting top talented cosmetologists who were career oriented.
Q: What is a staple beauty item that we should all have?
A quick-do hair enhancement piece- whether it be a wig, ponytail, clip-in, or halo - every girl needs one.
