Kanye West is known for being unpredictable in the most non-apologetic way. He made runway and fashion history by casting hijab-wearing model, Halima Aden. Ultra rare for NYFW (or any major fashion production), Halima wore her hijab on the runway and looked stunning in a floor-length fur coat and suede heels.
Although this was Halima's first runway gig ever, she's no stranger to the modeling world. Now signed to IMG Models, Halima got her start when she ran for Ms. Minnesota and was the first woman ever to wear a burkini for the swimsuit section. At only 19, Halima serves as a beautiful example for how diversity continues to permeate the art, beauty and fashion communities with no cultural or aesthetic boundaries.
