Fluff Obsessed: Aurora James of Brother Vellies

We are currently obsessed with Aurora James, Founder and Creative Director of footwear line Brother Vellies!

Aurora grew up traveling, during a trip to Africa, she noticed the locals were drawn more towards the more popular western brands such as Nike etc.. She admired the reuse of materials the locals used to create handmade shoe traditionally called veldskoen "vellie", the South African and Namibian rawhide shoes made without tacks and nails also known as dessert boots made popular by the brand Clark.

She aimed to start an ethical company that celebrates traditional African craftsmanship and style, while also creating sustainable jobs for artisans in South Africa, Kenya and Morocco offering a range of swoon-worthy sandals, heels, booties, and bags that are made from local raw materials and ethically-sourced animal products ( leather, fur, mohair, ostrich & more.)
