New Year, Same Me!

As we approach the holiday season, we approach with high hopes for the new year; hence, New Year’s resolutions. Maybe, over this past year, you didn’t work out as much as you wanted to or you didn’t pick up that new hobby you’ve been dying to start. That’s okay. Now is your chance to make a list, no matter the length, of changes you want to make in the new year.

Not quite sure of the changes you want to implement in your life? That’s okay too, Fluff to the rescue! Below you are some common New Year’s resolutions to add to your list with a piece of advice to help you succeed with bringing about change.

Get Serious About Working Out

Often, the excuse for not working out is time and simply not having enough of it. Do you live in a city with a lot of traffic? Find a gym near your workplace and workout after your shift to avoid waiting in traffic. Are you off on weekends? Use your mornings during your days off to spend time being active. Working out can take as little as thirty minutes. Don’t overthink it!

Change Your Eating Habits.

With new diets appearing every two seconds, it can be hard to decide what is right for you and your lifestyle. Whether you choose to go vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, keto, or all of the above there are ways to transition into a new diet and stick to it.

Consider the pros and cons of each diet you’re thinking about trying. Think about the cost of groceries associated with each lifestyle. Try meals from each diet and try to find potential supplements to replace your old favorites. Remember, you don’t have to go cold turkey.

Meet New People.

Recently moved to a new city? Looking to meet new faces? It may seem intimidating at first, but putting yourself out there is the first step. Finding different opportunities to volunteer in your areas of interest can introduce you to people with common interests. Join the app Meetup! This app is used to organize online groups that host in-person events for people with common interests.

Earn More Money

Often we see our 9 to 5 jobs as our only source of income. Not anymore! It’s time to use one of your many talents or passions to open up another source of income. Whether it be making a craft, opening a small catering business or photography, the time is now! Things may not manifest at first, but stick with it and watch your clientele expand.

Save More Money

Now that we’ve established making the money, we have to work on saving it! A great idea would be downloading Digit. The app saves a specified amount from your bank account every day. Digit helps you stop “stealing” from your savings account by storing your savings separate from your primary banking account.

Pick Up A New Hobby

Stop procrastinating! Want to learn how to knit? Play tennis? Do yoga? Find a Groupon for a local yoga studio. Look for intramural sports teams in your area. Check out how-to videos on YouTube and get started!

Travel

Apps and sites like Hopper, Orbitz, Kayak and CheapOAir make finding bargain flights a breeze. They can be conveniently accessed on a computer or even on your smartphone. Hopper comes in the form of an app. Once downloaded the app will prompt you to input your desired departure and arrival for your destination. Once selected, the app fetches a range of ticket prices from different airlines for your comparison. These apps and sites make traveling more accessible! No more excuses.

Learn To Cook

Learning to cook is not only better for your health, but for your pockets as well! Start by learning simple meals. Don’t get discouraged, as cooking is all trial and error. If you’re feeling adventurous, try some online recipes are or purchase a cookbook.

Start Journaling

It is important to venture into the new year without the baggage. Take some time out of your day to journal for five minutes. Journaling can increase your overall well-being and allow you to clearly reflect on past experiences.

As we get ready to celebrate 2019, remember that if you don’t get it done this year you always have the next. Happy holidays from Fluff!
